      The cable works normal but not to a 4K monitor at least for me I have connected my MacBook pro (mid 2012) to a 4k monitor and didn”t work.

      I”ve used this to recycle an old monitor with an HDMI input and create a second screen from my iMac. Plugged in both end changed input on old monitor and it works fine. It”s a cable and it”s fine for what I want to do with it.
