      It was fairly inexpensive and it seems pretty accurate. Very easy to use. As others have mentioned it is for surface temperature measurement.

      The IR thermometer is simple and easy to use. There is a laser pointer to show where you are sampling the temp but for close range you don”t need it. There is a backlight for the display for low light situations. Just point and shoot. I don”t have a way to check it”s accuracy but have no reason to doubt it but I still downgraded it to 4 stars because I haven”t checked it.

      Just received yesterday and put to use. Having new windows and siding installed in FL home. It allows me a quick check on proper sealing/caulking. Haven”t checked accuracy but for me here in hot FL summer – the leak is either there or it isn”t — a degree or so doesn”t matter. It is a not high end – simple cheap plastic housing so probably not very rugged – wouldn”t want to drop but of course that isn”t the plan 🙂 Meets my needs and for the price a qreat value!
