      I purchased this to use my Apple TV 4th Gen with an older widescreen Samsung monitor that only has a VGA input. The adapter came with an audio cable that I ended up not using – if you send the audio output of the Apple TV to a bluetooth speaker you can control the volume with the remote – perfect when it’s located across the bedroom.

      I have an old projector that only has RCA (yellow. red. white) or vga inputs. and my speakers are old 4.1 computer speakers with 3.5mm headphone inputs. so I had to use an old DVD player with RCA inputs and an RCA-to-headphone converter. My kids wanted to stream some newer movies that we didn’t have on DVD. so I needed to convert the streaming device’s HDMI to VGA with an audio out. This one fit the bill. Picture was very nice and using the 3.5mm headphone out to a splitter to connect to my front/rear speaker inputs worked perfectly (while not truly 4.1. it sounded great). The picture did appear a bit squished (taller than it was wide. so everybody looked skinnier). but it wasn’t enough to bother everybody and I likely just need to adjust some output settings from my streaming device or my projector. All in all. I couldn’t be happier with this converter. and we’ll be having weekly movie nights with family and friends throughout the summer.

      This adapter disconnects my computer from the work VPN and causes the wifi to say there is no internet. There are no drivers available for me to fix this.
