      6′ sounds like a lot but not enough for certain applications so looked for something a little longer when I found this set of 10′ cables. Love them! They’re just long enough without being too long. And like the different colors. I’ve used them on a camera NVR. FireTV and laptop docking station from the same router. The different colors make it easy to trace down each one.

      I can’t believe what happened here. I had fibre broadband connected recently but used some old Ethernet cable I had in the drawer. The broadband was slow. so following Virgin guidance I have replaced it with the new cable (Cat6). My download speed went up from 92.58 Mbps to 218.86 Mbps!

      So I’m learning some IT / Networking stuff right now. and according to the textbooks that I have this cable is an Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) Category 6 cable. I even cut open one of the extra cables I still have. In the pics. you’ll see 4 twisted pairs separated by a PLASTIC CORE to reduce crosstalk. A CAT-5 cable and CAT-5e cable have 4 twisted pairs. but no plastic core separating the twisted pairs. The cable can have metal shielding (STP = Shielded Twisted Pair) to prevent interference which makes them more expensive. but this cable is UNshielded. Anyway. I don’t have Gigabit Ethernet so I’m not sure how well this actually works. My Ethernet connection can go more than 200 Mbps.

      These were part of me rearranging my AV equipment with the use of more Ethernet and these do the job and it’s dead easy to tell the various things apart so that it will be much easier to rearrange things in future
